Domain Names and Digital Trading Cards

Today I learned how much it costs for a domain name and its pricing breakdown. New domain names can cost anywhere between $10-$20 dollars and a preregistered domain will be more expensive. Price differences depend on which registrar you buy your domain name from, and what kind of domain you’re buying. I also learned that its worth shopping around to find the best fit and cheapest price. I learned about a domain name registrar and how domain names are purchased through it. Next I learned that the two most common types of domains are top-level domains called TLDs and country cod top-level domains called ccTLDs. The difference between the two is that TLDs are well-known domain name extensions, like .com, .net, and .edu. ccTLDs are country-specific domain name extensions, such as .uk or .fr.

Next I learned about digital trading cards. I learned that digital cards in Topps apps like Bunt, Huddle, Kick, and Star Wars Trader have real-money value. I also learned about value indicators, value factors, and value phases. I also learned about different trading cards on topps and steam that value real money.

Advertising and Email Marketing

Today I learned what advertising conversion is. An advertising conversion refers to any goal action taken by a potential customer that you’ve deemed valuable to your ad campaign. I also learned that the term "advertising conversion" is very broad and there are actually many types of advertising conversions that can be completed by a prospect.

I also learned about advertising metrics that digital marketers need to be tracking and why its necessary. I learned without an established plan to monitor ad campaign results, you can’t realistically prove your ads are performing well. Things that need to be tracked are the total site traffic, bounce rate, page value, impressions, cpm (cost-per-thousand impressions), clicks, cpc (cost-per-click) and conversions.

Selling Digital Goods

Today I learned about selling digital goods online. Digital goods can also be known as:

With digital goods, whatever you pay for, you receive it over the internet. Digital goods can also be sold worldwide. Some examples of digital goods are e-books, images, movies, videos, downloadable and streaming music.

Next, I learned the most profitable digital products to sell. With shopify, it is easy to create an online store to sell your products. The best digital good to sell is educational products. You can leverage an existing reputation as an expert to garner attention for your downloadable products to sell online or, if you’re starting from scratch, you can create and give away free content to generate interest and leads for your paid digital products. The second best digital good to sell is licenses to use digital assets. By offering licenses to individuals and businesses, you can charge for the use of your photos, videos, music, software, and similar to digital products in your own store and through online marketplaces, such as stock photo sites.

Another way to sell digital goods is through membership sites. Instead of focusing on how to sell digital products individually, you can bundle them together and lock them behind a paid subscription to generate recurring revenue. Finally, you can also sell music or art. A musician can sell ringtones of their best songs alongside their merch. Or a cartoonist could turn their art into printables, phone wallpapers, or print-on-demand products. A filmmaker can sell their movies online.

Option and Commodity Trading Risks

Today I learned the risks to investing in options. If you buy a call, you are buying the right to purchase the stock at a specific price. If you buy a put, you are buying the right to sell a stock at a specific price. If you sell a call, you are selling the right to purchase to someone else. If you sell a put, you are selling the right to sell to someone else. I also learned that there is a way to control options risks. Determining the appropriate amount of money to invest in an options position allows the investor to unlock the power of leverage. The key is maintaining balance in the total risk is to run a series of "what if" scenarios, using risk tolerance as your guide.

Next, I learned the risks of commodities. Commodities are the most volatile asset class; stocks, bonds, and currencies tend to have lower variance and more liquidity than commodities. Another risk is that it is not unusual for the price of a raw material to halve, double, triple, or more over a very short period of time.

Commodities and Commodity Index

Today I learned more about options trading and also learned about commodity trading. A commodity is a basic good used in commerce that is interchangeable with other goods of the same type. I learned that these are most often used as inputs in the production of other goods or services. While a product is the finished goods sold to consumers, a commodity is the raw material used to manufacture finished goods. Investors and traders can buy and sell commodities directly in the cash market or via derivatives such as futures and options. I also learned that hard commodities refer to energy and metals products while soft commodities are often agricultural goods.

Next, I learned about commodity index. A commodity index is an index that tracks the price and returns on a basket of commodities. The value of these indexes fluctuates based on their underlying commodities. Commodity indexes vary in the way they are weighted and the commodities that they are composed of.

Option Trading

Today at techie youth i learned what an option was and how it differs from stocks. An option is a financial instrument that is based on the value of underlying securities such as stocks. Options give buyers the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying asset at an agreed-upon price and date. There are two types of options that form the basis for a wide range of option strategies designed for hedging, income, or speculation. A call option gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy the underlying security at the strike price on or before expiration. This option will therefore become more valuable as the underlying security rises in price. A put option gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to instead sell the underlying stock at the strike price on or before expiration.

Investing, Bitcoin, and Trading

Today I learned about stock market orders. I learned that the most common types of orders are market orders, limit orders, and stop-loss orders. A market order is an order to buy or sell a security immediately. This order will guarantee that the order will be executed but doesn't guarantee the price. A limit order is an order to buy or sell a security at a specific price or better. A buy limit order can only be executed at the limit price or lower, and a sell limit order can only be executed at the limit price or higher. A stop order or a stop-loss order is an order to buy or sell a stock once the price of the stock reaches the specified price, know as the stop price. And finally a buy stop order is enterd at a stop price above the current market price. It is usually used by investors to limit a loss or protect a profit on a stock that they have sold short.

I learned about Forex and how it is a global electronic marketplace for trading international currencies and currency derivatives. I learned that in the Forex market, a profit or loss results from the difference in the price at which the trader bought and sold a currency pair.

Today I learned about what bitcoin is and how it works. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency used as a payment or for investors to hold and hope for value increases. First I learned about a bitcoin blockchain and how it is a database of transactions secured by encryption and validated by peers. I learned that a bitcoin blockchain is not stored in one place; it is distributed across multiple computers and systems within the network called nodes. Within every node is a copy of the blockchain. Then I learned what a block is and how it includes tons of information such as the block version, the previous block's hash, the coinbase transaction, the block height number, timestamp, and more. I also read about bitcoin mining and how it is the process of validating transactions and creating a new block on the blockchain.

Next, I learned how bitcoin is a type of cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency works without the backing of a central bank or government and only exists on the internet. I also learned about the different types of cryptocurrencies such as "altcoins" which are the alternative to bitcoin.

I learned about the risks of trading. First are the market risks which include inflation risk, marketability risk, and currency translation risk. Then its the investment risks which include opportunity risks and concentration risks. Finally, there are the risks that are unique to trading such as the slippage risk, poor execution risk, and the gap risk.

Making Sales online and how to price products

Today I learned the many different websites where you could sell any of your products such as ebay, shopify, and etsy. I learned the pros and cons of using these websites. I also learned the steps to pricing a product. First you must find a base price by getting to know common pricing strategies in your industry. You can do this by using cost-plus pricing where you take the cost of making the product and add it to the markup percent to find your price. You can also use market-oriented pricing where the seller sets the price higher or lower than their competitors depending on how well their own product matches up. Finally the last way to find a base price is by using dynamic pricing. This is a strategy in which businesses set flexible prices for a product or service based on current market demands.

I also learned about what to do after you make a sale. First you must make sure the payment went through. Then you need to find the buyers address to see where to send the product. Next you purchase a shipping label and send it through the mail. Finally you should share the tracking info with the buyer.

Laser Cut Products and Adobe Illustrator

Today I learned that laser Cutting is a non-contact process which utilizes a laser to cut materials, resulting in high quality, dimensionally accurate cuts. The process works by directing the laser beam through a nozzle to the workpiece and a combination of heat and pressure creates the cutting action. I learned that it is a simple way to make a business and is a good starter idea. I also watch a tutorial on how to work adobe illustrator and learned how to create and edit shapes, change colors and brush strokes, add text to designs, organize content in layers, and how to add images and artistic effects.

Project Planning

Today I learned the essentials to project planning. I learned that you project planning should include a description of your final products with visual images representing your vision for them. In the case of functional items you should describe what it does and how it works. In order to create the initial product, as well as an approximate cost for each item you need a list of "ingredients". The ingredients are categorized into 2 categories- tooling and consumables.

Tooling is items that only need to be purchased once or rarely. You can use these items continuously.

Consumables are items that you need to purchase continuously to produce your product.

I learned a sales channel is where you plan to sell your product.

Ways to Becoming a Better Leader

Today I learned the best ways to becoming a better leader. First you have to be an empathetic leader. Usually, many leaders have been promoted to their positions based on past performance or because of their industry credentials, but they have little or no leadership training. This results in a heavy-handed, order-giving manager with unclear expectations and little empathy for his or her employees. This also results in low productivity and morale. Next, you should be a good listener. Being a good listener goes hand in hand with empathy. A good leader values the input of his or her team members, wants to know what makes them tick, and helps them set and achieve career goals. When being a leader at work you should be a model for embracing change. Learning how to lead through change, then, is a critical skill that leaders must have, whether it’s adopting new policies and procedures, introducing a new business model, or adapting to a new CEO’s leadership style. Effective leaders model a positive and professional response to change and set the standard for how to move forward. I also learned that you should communicate realistic and clear expectations and should always learn how to handle failure. If you want to know how to be a great leader, explore with your team what went wrong and how things could have been done differently to ensure success. Take responsibility for any part you played in the missed goal. Together, identify things that can be improved going forward. And hold employees accountable as needed. Lastly, you should always continue learning. There’s no perfect leader, and given that change is constant, it’s important that leaders keep improving their skills.

Then, if you are planning on manufacturing products, include a Products and Services section in the summary as well. You should provide as much information as possible in a concise, organized document.

Next, I learned ways to check if your business name is available. I learned that you cant name your business the same as another one so you must check the internet, social media and check a domain name search to make sure it isn't being used.

Some tips for creating a slogan is keeping it short and simple, being consistent, focusing on what makes your brand different, getting input and considering your target audience.

After this I learned about mission statements. A mission statement is an action-based statement that declares the purpose of an organization and how they serve their customers. It can sometimes include a description of the company, what it does, and its objectives. I learned that a mission statement provides perfect clarity behind the “what,” the “who,” and the “why,” of your company. The best mission statements are guidelines by which a company operates and everything you do as a company should work toward your mission statement. Mission statements are usually short and stay between one to three sentences.

Finally I learned about the importance of designing a good logo. The most important steps to designing a logo are

By creating you logo you’ve created the ideal basis for all the branding material your business needs—whether it’s business cards, packaging design or web design. I also learned the websites where you can create a brand logo for free.

Why business failure should be early

Today I learned reasons as to why business failures should be early. One reasons being the an early failure will not let you have as much time wasted to your business and will have more time to think of other ideas that will work better, or realize what went wrong and fix it the second time around. Failure ends up being valuable to investors since people are more likely to learn from their mistakes.

I also learned about digital nomads. Digital nomads are people who travel to many different places while working remotely. There are many benefits to being a digital nomad such as you'll be more productive, you'll have more breakthrough ideas and you'll be more adaptable. In order to become a digital nomad you must get rid of unnecessary expenses, make sure you have income you can always rely on, have travel health insurance, and set yourself up for financial success. When living as a digital nomad you must have a very concrete budget and always follow it no matter what. You must also plan for the worst scenario since many things can go wrong while traveling or working.

I also learned about couch surfing. This is a service that people can use to find a free place to stay or share your home with travelers. This service is used by many travelers since hosts are not allowed to charge for rooms, but it is encouraged for a guest to repay them by doing acts such as cooking or paying for dinner.
